Half Dome from Leipdig Meadow

Acrylic on gallery wrap canvas, 36″ x 36″
Due to weather and natural disasters, revisiting this remarkable location wasn’t feasible at the time, so working from memory and a ten-year-old ink and watercolor exploratory sketch became my only option. Calling upon the initial impetus, this new depiction included the snow caps from the original but now enhanced with vivid flowers and fresh spring colors. The dark shadow of the mountain contrasted against the brightly lit background to build the drama. The bushes and trees became more stylized through the process which sparked the desire to express distance and detail with colors, patterns, and shapes.
