Yosemite Falls from Ahwahnee Meadow

Acrylic on gallery wrap canvas, 24″ x 30″
Spring had sprung and everything was exploding with green. While walking towards Yosemite Village in a misty rain, I peered out from the bushes on the edge of the meadow near the bike path and was able to capture the original reference photo. The lush and luminescent copse of trees in the middle distance offered a beautiful counterpoint to the majestic waterfall. Adding magenta and orange shapes into the squares that made-up the grassy meadow introduced some whimsy and an invitation to play. The grid technique in this image is tighter than the two-inch grid I use most frequently.

In 2012, Yosemite Falls from Ahwahnee Meadow was honored with inclusion in the Yosemite Renaissance XXVI show and traveling exhibit.
