A is for Aorta, 2018

8″x10″ image size, matted and framed with plexiglass, acrylic and colored pencil on matte board, Limited Edition Prints available

My love affair with all things heart shaped continues. This image implies a beginning, hinting that the rest of the visual alphabet would follow. However, even with the burgeoning potential implicit in the format, it may remain an isolated symbol. (Who knows?)
I desired to combine a stylized yet eerily realistic heart, rendered in the context of a children’s picture book. I also wanted to create a totally red painting.
I sealed the 8″ x 10″ piece of matte board with acrylic, both sides and edges. I added some colored pencil to flesh out the design, but it didn’t adhere well so the whole thing is predominantly acrylic.
