Elephants are fascinating, exotic, matriarchal, and endangered. This painting started as an experiment in color and freehand drawing with intentional abstraction into broad areas of color to loosely combine some reference photos. The background animals are inspired by pre-historic cave drawings. The medieval style sun mythologizes the scene. Huge amounts of polyester glitter and several metallic embellishments provided the final touches. In 2013, this painting was included in The Gathering at Stellar Gallery, Oakhurst, CA.
