Hillside Dawn

Acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 24″
In the woods of El Portal, a steep and winding footpath leads to an unpaved road at the top of a hill. (The road, after seven miles of switchbacks, ultimately leads to Foresta.) I had admired the early morning view many times prior to actually traveling there to paint it. The mountain range in the distance provided a pale and dusky contrast to the deep and defined color of the framing flora.
