Acrylic on canvas, 30″ x 30″
The trees had just begun to change color on this cool and cloudy day. Above El Portal, just outside of Yosemite, I started this painting of the distant hills and the copse of trees perched conspicuously upon them. The sun became a tiny pale white smear in the grey expanse. The autumn colors against the yellow hills and lavender mountains easily provided dramatic and majestic inspiration.
