6″x9″, with one inch black frame, acrylic on board
This piece started with a pencil sketch on pre-gessoed hardboard. After outlining the
shapes in black marker, I applied multiple layers of transparent color, eventually becoming thicker opaque areas. The expression may say ‘my glass is half empty’ to some viewers — butty intent was more ‘It’s my birthday, and my fish is all bones’. The party hat makes it all come together, as usual.
