Lower Yosemite Falls in Blue and Purple

Acrylic on gallery wrap canvas, 16″ x 20″
The configuration of the rock formations near the lower falls and the dramatic shape and movement of the waterfall itself were fascinating and became the focus. This stark and distinctive outcrop jutting out to the left of the falls captivated me over the many years I spent in Yosemite. This up-close and intimate grid composition is rendered in cool violet, sapphire, strong metallic silvers, iridescent pearl, and interference colors. Each square features an abstract composition of it’s own. The combination of these disparate shapes forms a complete portrait when viewed as a whole.
